Leader Accessories Deluxe Padded Kayak Seat
Not all the features of this seat are unique to the brand.
The durable high-grade hooks, the adjustable strap, the tall seat back, and the storage bag can all be found in the others.
But it’s the quality that sets it apart!
But before we get to that…
This seat pad is made of a durable EVA foam interior in a 210D polyester exterior. Both materials are water-resistant which adds to the comfort and durability of the product. The polyester doesn’t insulate like a nylon mesh but the difference is insignificant.
It has 2 straps at the front and another 2 at the back, all adjustable and very easy to install on your kayak by the metal hooks at each end.
The seatback is about 20 inches tall and 18 inches wide. The whole chair folds to 2 inches thick – not including the storage bag. It’s very lightweight at just around 3 pounds all-in-all.
As for its special features…
The storage bag behind the backrest is actually a detachable pouch. So you can decide whether or not you want it with you for that particular kayak ride.
Plus, this seat has a fishing rod holder – isn’t that cool?
So it’s all here!
We did all the paddling and now we can show you the nitty-gritty for every metric that decided our Editor’s Choice for us!

Our Analysis, Comparisons & Test Results
1. Value For Money
What can I say…
This product gave me exactly what I paid for – and more!
From the best features to durability, it really towered over the other sit-on-top seats that I tried.
There’s a little bit of a disadvantage in terms of comfort but it can be easily overlooked. Especially since its ergonomic design helped reduce the risk of back pain.
Here’s the best thing about this seat:
The unique features such as the detachable storage bag, the adjustability of the straps and durability of the hooks, the water-resistant material, and the overall design all combined to give it a classy look that sets it apart from the best kayak seats on the market.
We’ll describe each metric score one-by-one later, along with the reasons that we picked this as our Editor’s Choice Awardee.
And even better…
It’s not the most expensive brand there is! Not the cheapest too, but it exceeded our expectations and gave us more than we bargained for.
This seat’s storage bag is very convenient.
If you’re like me, someone who wants everything at arms’ reach when on water, you’ll definitely love the Leader Accessories Deluxe Padded Kayak Seat.
But if you like your backrest light, like one of my colleagues, and you don’t need a lot of stuff with you when you go paddling, this one’s for you too! How’s that? The storage bag is detachable!
It’s up to you if you want it there or not.
It even has a fishing rod holder for when you’re feeling lucky about a catch.
It has four straps that can be adjusted to accommodate different body types, so you don’t have to worry about whether you’ll fit in.
Also, it’s not at all complicated. Attaching it on and detaching it from your kayak is easy and very convenient.
The durability of your seat pad will keep you at peace while on the water. Well…
You can relax on this seat.
I didn’t want to judge it by appearance, but it was really notable how the material itself looks very durable.
The seat pad is made of EVA foams that are weather and water-resistant so they will definitely survive the wear and tear of kayaking for hours.
And not only that!
The high-grade hooks have even more corrosion resistance so they don’t rust as easily as those of the other brands’.
Take it from me. I go for a paddle under the sun or the moon, on sea or freshwater, on cool and hot days. Whatever the conditions I put my kayak in, the strap hooks didn’t have a hint of corrosion.
And I’m guessing it’s not gonna rust for a long time coming so it has a long service life.
It’s not just my word too.
I’ve read some online reviews about this product so I’d know what to expect before I tried it for myself.
So far so good.
Those who’ve had this seat for quite some time had written that the straps haven’t snapped nor stretched. And the hooks were just as good as they first bought it – maybe with the slightest degree of deterioration, but you get the point.
The other features – like the storage bag and the fishing rod holder – are sturdy as well.
Here we come…
…to the metric that describes the slightest disadvantage that we found from the Leader Accessories Deluxe Padded Kayak Seat.
I was quite impressed by this product since I took it out of the packaging and installed it on my boat.
But the minute I sat on it…
The first thing I noticed was the slight discomfort I felt. I really couldn’t place it. The extra padding was good, the fit was good.
But then I found it. There’s a gap between the seat padding and the base of the back support.
To be honest…
I thought it wouldn’t have made a difference in terms of overall comfort, but it did. I found myself in need of a stretch every so often, and more than when I used the other seats on the list.
I’m prone to back pain so this factor made me take a few points off this metric.
But as I’ve said – The inconvenience is very minor and easily compensated by the best features, the durability, and the stability that this seat has.
Especially because of the seat pad.
There’s just a bit of extra, as compared to the other brands. But this one is made of EVA foam, as we’ve established earlier, which is water-resistant so it doesn’t get soggy.
As for the storage bag, I just took it off the backrest when it started giving me discomfort.
Yes, the durability of these seats can keep your peace on the water, but stability is another factor that needs to be considered.
You just felt a pull at your fishing rod and you could guess it was a huge catch that you can brag to your friends about. Or, if you’re not into fishing, you’re just feeling adventurous that the big waves looked more cool than dangerous to your eyes.
But then your seat goes wobble-wobble-wobble like a Jell-O.
I actually felt this with some of the other brands.
But with this product…
It was almost as if it was built in.
Not that it didn’t wobble at all. But it was very minimal and unnoticeable even when the waves had gotten bigger while I was on the water.
I credited it to my amazing seat strap attaching skills – it’s a real thing. But I put the same effort into installing the other kayak seats.
Yet they didn’t give me the same security as the Leader Accessories Deluxe seat.
This is a huge part of our decision to pick this product as our Editor’s Choice.
I filled the storage bag up and kept it on the backrest for added stability. I’ve read that trick somewhere and tried it with this seat and it actually worked.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
1. How thick is the padding on the seat/butt area?
I would say that the padding is almost about 1 inch thick. It was just the right thickness to provide a great cushion yet still look classy and not over-padded.
2. Are these kayak seats better and more comfortable than seats that come with the boat?
I believe so. Kayaking became so much better for me when I installed the seats, especially this particular brand. It’s more comfortable and I lasted hours longer on the water before I needed to take a stretch.
The added features like the storage bag and the rod holder are very handy too!
3. Is the seat back supported by any kind of frame, or is it just supported by the foam it’s made of?
The foam itself is very sturdy and well-shaped so it’s actually the thing that supported the frame.
4. Will this work in sit-in kayaks?
Yes, this product will. I personally prefer sit-on-top kayaks and most seats work better in them but the Leader Accessories Deluxe is also compatible with a sit-in or a jet kayak.
Our Final Verdict:
Leader Accessories Deluxe Padded Kayak Seat
This product got the highest overall score among the 10 best seats on the market – and for good reason too!
It’s all in the non-corrosive metal hooks, the detachable storage compartments, and the overall durability of the seat.
Leader Accessories Deluxe Padded Kayak Seat
And as a bonus…
It’s a super lightweight chair that looks very classy and posh on my boat. The aesthetics added to the adventure!
All of these qualities that towered above the others made the slight breach of comfort very insignificant.
I think I could’ve paid more for this kind of seat.
